Web
Site Design questions you may be
asking yourself answered
here!
The first thing you may be saying to
yourself when wanting a web site is,
Can I do this myself? or Why can't I do it
myself?
Can I do it
myself? absolutely,
you can do it yourself, but do you
want it done properly, to standard,
and search engine friendly? Designers
like myself have been designing web
sites for years through study of
techniques, software, books, and lots
of mistakes. If you can afford the
time to do it yourself like others
have told me they have, then give it
a shot, in my experience most of
those people never complete what they
have started because of time or
functionality that they want and
aren't able to create.
Should I build my own
website?
The answer is for much of the same reasons
as above. Time, research or lack of, don't
know what to do or where to start, there
are more reasons to seek professional
services than there are reasons for
attempting a web site design yourself. If
you're in business for your self or
representing a larger business or
organization, you need a professional look
and feel to keep your web site visitors
coming back, plain and simple.
Wondering
what you need to get going with your
web
designer?
I think
most designers of web sites need the same
thing, and that is the information you want
on your web site. You may want a personal
web site or professional web site, the main
thing to remember is that all the
information supplied must pertain to the
web site subject. What I mean by this is
that you wouldn't want a web site made for
oranges and supply images and content on
apples. Your web designer should plan out
and talk with you the client about the
content and how you want it presented.
You will also need some more important
details such as a domain name and a web
host. Your web host if you do not have one
already can be suggested by your web
designer based on your web site needs and
how it's developed. Pen Point Design offers
good reliable web site hosting at
rock-bottom pricing!
How much is the web site going to cost
me?
First
let me say this, your web site is an
investment whether its personal for family
and fun or for a more serious business
aspect and it should be treated as such.
With that being said, the answer to this
question really depends on the type of web
site you want. The amount of pages, forms,
images, database and programming if
necessary and other variables determine how
much you site will cost. Some designer's
such as myself have web site packages that
we have outlined but will also create the
site based on what you want or need outside
of those packages. The price range could be
anywhere from a few hundred to a few
thousand dollars. We have
several website packages to fit all
needs.
How long will the web site take to
create?
About
80% of the progress depends on you the
client, why is this? Because the
information for the web site comes from you
whether it's the images or text, when you
enter into a contract with the designer,
you in part become an information supplier.
The other 20% depends on the designer and
what he or she is doing to produce your web
site. As an example, if a 1 page web site
is needed it could be only a matter of
hours to develop and produce with
information given, if a 20 page site is
needed, it could be a week to a month or
more depending on the complexity of the web
site.
Why should Pen Point Design create my web
site?
This is
a tough question to answer because there
are a lot of good web designer and
developers out there, each of us different
in the techniques we use and the knowledge
we have. Why Pen Point Design? Because Pen
Point Design is a work in progress striving
to do better each time whether it's a
$150.00 web site or a $10,000.00 web site,
why is this? I enjoy my work tremendously!
Creating, developing, working with people,
gives me a great source of pride in what I
do. For this reason I have kept my rates
low and affordable and have given breaks to
